De Bruyne Leads Man City Past Wolves and Close to UCL Qualification

Manchester City earned their fourth consecutive Premier League win, edging past Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium to take a major step toward securing Champions League football next season.

The match began with both sides testing from range. Rúben Dias and Matheus Cunha missed early attempts, while Wolves created the more dangerous chances soon after. Jean‐Ricner Bellegarde breached the offside line but failed to connect with Marshall Munetsi. Rayan Ait-Nouri struck the post and had another effort heroically cleared off the line by Joško Gvardiol.

City gradually grew into the game, and just before halftime, Nico O’Reilly forced a save from José Sá. Moments later, Jeremy Doku set up Kevin De Bruyne, who calmly slotted the ball into the corner. With his departure looming, the crowd at the Etihad erupted for one of their beloved stars.

Despite trailing, Wolves remained dangerous, with Cunha hitting the post again in the second half. City responded through Omar Marmoush and Mateo Kovačić, who both came close to doubling the lead. Though they couldn’t score again, the hosts held firm to secure victory, stretching their home winning streak against Wolves to five matches and ending the visitors’ six-game run of form.
